The government has today confirmed that parent carer forums in England will each be able to receive £15,000 in 2015-16.
Gail Walshe, Parent Participation Development Manager at Contact a Family, said: "This is great news for parent carer participation and is a direct reflection of the high regard parent carer forums are held in.
"Parent forums make a difference locally, helping to improve services for disabled children and their families. There are now 63,000 parent carers involved in parent carer forums in England, which are supported by Contact a Family."
Over the last year, forums have continued to report that active participation or co-production has led to improved services and better outcomes for disabled children and families.
A spokesperson for the Department for Education said: "Parent carer forums will each be able to receive £15,000 in 2015-16. This matches funding levels available this year, and recognises the ongoing importance of forums in ensuring local implementation of the SEND reforms is achieved in partnerships with parents."
We have had £10.000 funding from Cumbria County Council, for the work the forum does, the way in which this money is spent is set in a criteria between the the forum and CCC, for the work they wish us to do over a year....
